The cocktail party
The afternoon tea is a multidisciplinary project which waves together video, photography and sculpture. Absurdity, irony, ridiculous, excess, seduction are used here as resources to build this fictional and melodramatic narration that criticizes and satirizes our post-capitalistic western culture, its vulnerabilities and desires. The protagonists of the storytelling are three wealthy friends and their three handbags. A meeting in one of the friend´s house under the pretext of a weekly trivial chat while having the traditional afternoon tea is the background of the story. Throughout multi media installation we realize that the universe created is no more than a pretentious illusion, from the apparently “expensive” handbags of the ladies which are made, in fact, of sweets, to their own friendly words.
