The Crown of the queen:
 First fable

The crown of the queen. First fable introduces the audience into a metaphorical cosmos which deploy saturated colors videos, voice, sculptures and the act of navigating around the space as tools to tell the story, whose protagonists are two young ladies who are presented as the beloved queen, and her loyal and young maiden.

Throughout the installation space it is constantly introduced the personal together with prototypical symbols of the Spanish culture, as it is the case of folkloric references, allusions to the Spanish baroque or the importance of the religious symbols related to a deep devoted catholic tradition, for instance introduced by the queen´s clothing, dressed as an Immaculate Conception. Food, which is present all over the space in different sculptures and videos, is another important part of the metaphorical language, transforming its original meaning once and again: oranges covered with leafs of gold, cute ornamented pastries filled with strawberry jam or cereals are not seen as simple food anymore but they turn from food into ornament, from being an element of identification and consumption into symbol and new myth.

Once you enter the room the first thing the spectator see is a big translucent screen which divides the space and hide some parts of it. In this video the young lady who is presented as the maiden, but whose countenance is now out-of-camera, is cutting a “Roscón de Reyes” with a sharp knife. The two characters appear together struggling in a state of unstable balance over the waters but their intentions, although aggressive, are not clear. Maybe she wants to snatch the crown away from the queen, symbol of divinity, or maybe is the holy queen who wants to taste a bit of the sweet that is being cut and which somehow seems unattainable, suspended in some unknown temporality.
